Join Irish Network DC member Nick Vera on Wednesday 23rd September in the Martin Luther King Library for a special introductory class exploring Irish Sign Language (ISL) and American Sign Language (ASL) in recognition of International Deaf Awareness Week. This event is free and open to all! This engaging and interactive session will offer an introduction to the history and basics of sign language, with a particular focus on Irish and American Sign Language. Participants will learn about International Sign Language, discover similarities and differences between ISL and ASL, and have the opportunity to practice key words and phrases in both. Whether you already know some sign language or are completely new to it, everyone is welcome! Come along to learn something new, connect with fellow IN-DC members, and celebrate greater awareness and inclusion within our community. WHEN: Wednesday, September 23, 2026, 6:30 - 8:00pm WHERE: Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, 901 G Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001.
